A Day In The Life

Nijsha Nesbitt

What unique skills have you developed over time in your role and at this company?

"The most useful skill I've learned from 2TA would have to be personal shopping and making connections with customers. My job really requires active listening. You have to listen and pay attention to what customers tell you and how they feel about the items you pick out for them. Always be honest. They really respect it."

What excites you about your company?

"I would have to say what excites me the most would be customers that leave genuinely happy and feeling good. I have had returning customers come back, sometimes with friends to shop, telling me how much they appreciate my honesty and help. It seriously makes my day, because I didn't just try to sell to make sales, but I took the time to get to know that customer personally, leading them to come back and shop in my store. "

What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

"A day in my role at 2TA is definitely eventful. There's never something I'm not working on. I come in, check emails and reply back. I see what our goal is for the day and I get my team pumped to have a great day. During store hours I'm on the floor with customers creating outfits for events, showing my favorite items in the store, and sharing laughs. When the store is slow, I'm interacting and posting on Instagram, pushing out new inventory and making sure my store looks and feels good to shop in."

How does someone in your position interact with the Sales Stylists?

"I always tell my sales stylists that we are a team. It is their store just as much as it is mine. I ask for their opinions and ideas on what we can work on. It's always good to listen to a fresh pair of eyes and ears. They help make sales and create relationships just as much as I do, so everything we do, we do as a team."

What do you love most about working at 2nd Time Around?

"What I love most about working for 2TA is that it is consistently changing. From the inventory to our clients. I've been with the company for less than a year and have already seen so much growth. From our communication to our interactions with customers. You can never be bored. There's just so much room to continue to grow."

What opportunities do you think this role prepares you for in the future?

"Being a Style Store Manager, you physically do everything to run a store. I'm involved with financials, payroll, hiring, creating versatile inventory, customer service. You name it. It has also taught me life skills: delegating, communication, understanding and accountability."

What is your background and how did you end up in your current job?

"I've worked in retail for almost 10 years and I worked in resale for about 4 years. In each company I worked for, I worked my way up from the bottom. It took a lot of self awareness and being able to take constructive criticism. I ended up with 2TA because I wanted a change of pace. I wanted to work one-on-one with customers in a more personal setting."
